Child Protection

All schools have a clear responsibility placed on them by the Children Act 1989 and by guidance from the Department for Education (DfE) to safeguard the welfare of all their pupils. In doing so, schools are expected to consult with Children's Services if they believe there is a possibility that a child may be suffering from abuse or neglect

A referral to Social Services is not intended to be an accusation of any particular action or against any particular person. It is the reporting of concerns which have come to the school’s attention. This is accordance with Hertfordshire Child Protection Procedures.

The designated people for Child Protection are Mrs Pettit and Mrs Strank,   both of whom have received training for this role which will is updated regularly. They will be happy to discuss any questions or concerns parents/carers may have about Child Protection Practice.

Support We Can Offer

Our school nurse comes into school regularly and is available to meet individually with children or parents.

We have a school counsellor  for targeted children who require this type of support

Mrs Pettit provides a listening service called 'Time to Talk' on Wednesday lunchtimes for pupils who need to talk about anything that is troubling them.

We have a Family Support worker who visits school regularly. Please contact our Inclusion Leader, Mrs Pettit,  if you would like some advice on any aspect of parenting or child care. Mrs Pettit  can be contacted via the school office.
