As part of our topic 'Savage Earth' we have been learning about the structure of volcanoes. For home learning we made these amazing models, some of us even made them erupt!

The Structure of the Earth

To help us understand the different layers of soil we made models showing bedrock, subsoil, topsoil and humus. We learnt what is in each of the layers; the children were surprised to learn what humus (the top layer of soil) is made from. Why not ask your child about the different layers of soil.

Maths Week

During the first week of May, we celebrated maths week!  We learnt all about fractions and took part in lots of fun, fraction related activities in the afternoons.

Don't forget to ask your children about their fraction walls!

During the first week back after the Easter holidays, year 4 were visited by author, Ian McDonald.  We completed workshops and were lucky enough to work alongside him to create our own stories.

Year 4 were lucky to have a visit from the local Sainsbury's depot.  They brought with them their lorry which we all sat in!  The two men spoke to us about keeping safe on the roads and the surprising weight and power of the vehicles.
