Lesson 5- The Amazon Rainforest

This week in geography, the children will be learning about the Amazon Rainforest. At the end of this lesson, your child should be able to tell you some similarities and differences between the Amazon Rainforest and Sherwood Forest. Using the PowerPoint and the Forest Fact reading sheets, children should complete either the Tricky, Trickier or Trickiest worksheet which will answer the questions:

• How are Sherwood Forest and the Amazon Rainforest similar?
• How are they different?

Once completed, ask your child to look at their work. What things do they notice that the two forests have in common? Does your child think all forests would have these features?

Write a paragraph explaining which features you think all forests would have and why.
