Geography

Geography is taught over three half terms during the academic year.

Educational trips and visitors extend the children's understanding of the themes we teach. They also provided a more stimulating and exciting environment for children to learn in and children can discover that there any many wonderful places that they can learn new,fun and exciting things.

Whilst in conversation with a Year 3 child in February 2020, they stated that they are really enjoying their new topic of 'Extreme Earth' and have learnt and understood what the term 'dormant' means when referring to volcanoes.

We aim to inspire pupils’ curiosity to discover more about the diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes, and of the formation and use of landscapes and environments.

Throughout our geographical units, your child will have the opportunity to show off their English skills in an extended piece of writing, where appropriate. This will allow your child the chance to write in different genres and understand how to transfer their writing skills across the curriculum.
