Lesson 4: Hadrian’s Wall

This week’s history lesson enables the children to describe who Emperor Hadrian was, say when, how and why he built a wall and explain the features of the wall. Use the PowerPoint to gather information about the Picts and the building of Hadrian’s Wall. Your child should also use the PowerPoint to look at the features of the wall, such as milecastles, turrets and forts, and how food was obtained and stored. Then, this week’s task is for children to produce either a report or a letter, writing in role as a Roman soldier to describe Hadrian’s Wall.

Challenge: Can you remember the facts about Hadrian’s Wall and answer the comprehension questions on the Hadrian’s Wall Comprehension Activity Sheet?
