History is taught across three half terms every academic year.
Educational trips and visitors extend the children's understanding of the themes we teach. This allows children the opportunity to immerse themselves in mock scenarios from different periods in time and handle or look at artefacts from various periods of time, linked to their History unit.
We aim to inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past. We aim to teach your child to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement.
Throughout our historical units, your child will have the opportunity to show off their English skills in an extended piece of writing, where appropriate. This will allow your child the chance to write in different genres and understand how to transfer their writing skills across the curriculum.
