History is taught in topics, which last half a term. Children will typically cover two of three areas of history in a school year.
Educational trips and visitors extend the children's understanding of the themes we teach. We aim to inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past. Teaching them to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement.
At the end of each topic children produce an extended piece of writing which is published in their Published Work book. This piece of writing draws together what they have learnt throughout the topic with additional research. Our children are proud of their published workbooks and this shows in the quality of their writing.
