Lesson 3- Marvellous Mirrors

This week in science, children are to use mirrors to reflect light and explain how they work. By doing this, children should be able to explain why mirrors are good reflectors. Light reflected by a mirror preserves most of the characteristics of the original light, so it creates a clear image. An image in a mirror appears to be reversed. For example, if you look in a mirror and raise your right hand, the mirror image appears to raise its left hand.  The activity for this week’s learning involves playing two mirror games, instructions to each game can be found on the attached PowerPoint. While your child is playing these games, ask them to think carefully about how the mirrors are reflecting light. The attached worksheet should be used to record thoughts and ideas.
