Lesson 4- Sun Safety

This week’s science learning outcome, is to know that light from the sun can be dangerous and that there are ways we can protect our eyes. In order to meet this, children should be able to explain the benefits and dangers of the sun, explain about UV light and its dangers and describe ways to protect our eyes from the sun. This week’s task is to use the PowerPoint to gather information about sun safety and then design a pair of sunglasses, or a hat, that will protect someone's eyes from the harmful effects of the sun.

Challenge: Ask your child to advertise their sun protection item! To do this they will need to tell their customers why they need to buy their sunglasses or hat, as well as explaining about the effects of the sun, and how their sunglasses or hat can help protect against them.
