This week the children are learning about the orbit of Earth around the sun, and the moon's orbit of the Earth. Key points:
1. The Sun does not move, it is the centre of the solar system.
2. Earth takes 365 days to orbit (go around) the Sun once.
3. As the Sun orbits Earth it also rotates on its axis, once every 24 hours, causing day and night. There are 365 complete rotation for every 1 orbit of the Sun (365 days in 1 year).
4. The moon orbits Earth, every 28 days. The part of the moon facing Earth does not change.
